What the preview stores
The service stores its approved preview file, catalog metadata, view and like counters, and report or appeal text submitted on a video. Viewer hide choices stay in that browser's local storage.
Externally hosted media
Curated videos and posters marked as external load directly from Wikimedia Commons instead of BraveVid storage. Wikimedia therefore receives ordinary request information such as the viewer's IP address, browser details, requested file, and referring site. Its handling is governed by the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy.
What it does not do
BraveVid does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and it does not currently collect account profiles, email addresses, or precise locations. Source hosts may process media requests under their own policies. Public upload intake is disabled.
Retention and deletion
The open creator product needs authenticated deletion and export, an enforced retention schedule, legal-hold rules, tested backups, and a named privacy contact before launch.
Do not submit sensitive material
The preview does not have account identity or staffed support. Do not put confidential, private, personal, or illegal material into reports or appeals.
